John R. Bowman has a long and impressive list of credentials as a musician, singer, and preacher. John started his career in 1991 with bluegrass legend, Doyle Lawson, as his tenor singer and guitarist. After nearly two years with Quicksilver, he joined Alison Krauss & Union Station. He toured extensively with Krauss until 1994 when he joined The Isaacs. He spent twelve years traveling the world with them.
In 2006, he left the road to teach at a local Christian School in La Follette, Tennessee. He taught there for five years. During this period, he toured with banjo legend J.D. Crowe and his band, The New South, from 2007-2009.

He was a founding member of The Boxcars in 2009. After five years full of awards, radio hits, and even a Grammy® nomination, he stepped down in 2014 to focus on a solo preaching and singing ministry.

Bowman answered the call to preach in 1997. He earned an exhorter’s license through the Church of God in Cleveland, Tennessee. He has preached in numerous services and revivals over the last 15 years.

He has recorded four solo projects. One of these, a 2010 tribute to his father-in-law Joe Isaacs (Family Chain: The Songs of Joe Isaacs), was nominated for a Dove Award. Kyle Cantrell of Sirius XM’s, “Bluegrass Junction,” said that the project was one of the most requested and played CDs on the channel’s “Gospel Train.”
